OSCAR DOMINGUEZ

BIOGRAPHY
Oscar Dominguez was a Spanish surrealist artist born in 1906 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. He died in 1957 in Paris.
He made his first trip to France in 1927 before settling there permanently in 1929. In 1931, he produced his first Surrealist paintings and joined the group definitively in 1934. Under his impetus, several Surrealist exhibitions were organised on the island of Tenerife.
In 1952, his friend Paul Eluard died. After this event, the presence of death was increasingly present in his works, particularly in the form of revolvers.
