TESTING THE LIMITS
THREE SCULPTORS
Marc Ferroud, Etienne Viard, François Weil
18 February - 11 March 2023
The first, Marc Ferroud, draws in space: steel becomes a wire, an aerial line whose presence is enough to make a place. Alain Jouffroy called these works "Aérotectures".
The second, Etienne Viard, plays with gravity: plates of corten steel, or patinated steel, by the grace of their improbable arrangements, invent an unknown balance, turned towards the sky.
The third, François Weil, uses stone to establish movement: forms brush against each other, without ever touching, seemingly driven by other laws of attraction, made of gravitation and desire.
They are sculptors, each with their own means, each with their own arrangements. But they are all driven by the same quest: to reinvent sculpture, to test its limits, to bring out new ways of being in the world, new human ways of inhabiting it.
