BIOGRAPHY
Georges Badin is a french poet and painter born on 1927 march 13th in Céret (Pyrénées-Orientales) and died on november 23th 2014 in the same city.
He first devoted himself to writing (Publications at the Mercure de France, Cahiers du Sud) then to painting accompanying texts by Georges Emmanuel Clancier, Robert Marteau, Michel Butor.
Then, using both word and color, he paints free canvases (without frames) that go beyond what the text can express. In 1968 he was at the origin, with Michel Vachey and Gérard Duchêne, of Textruction, a movement close to Support-Surface.
His painting, which deserts abstraction, does not offer immediate resemblances with the known world but opens up new horizons. Fleeting emergences of silhouettes, curves of hills or bodies, flowers or rather blooms, outcrops, fleeting glimpses of seas, defy the limits of gaze and thought.
Some paintings are made with the participation of Michel Butor.
Georges Badin was curator of the modern art museum of Céret from 1967 to 1987.
